Maggie Briggs is a writer and director from Asheville, North Carolina. She holds an MFA in Film from Columbia University in the City of New York. She co-wrote Saim Sadiq’s JOYLAND (2022) which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize and went on to win Best International Film at the 2023 Indie Spirit Awards. With director, Samir Oliveros, she wrote THE LUCKIEST MAN IN AMERICA (2024), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released nationwide by IFC Films. 

Her features in development as a writer/director have been supported by the Tribeca Film Institute, Cine Qua Non, the TIFF Writers’ Studio, where she received the CHANEL Women Writers’ Network Grant, and The Bergman Estate.
